Foldable pieces for balconies and terraces

Fold, roll or bend – you can shrink this garden furniture to a minimum. They make even the smallest outdoor space as cosy as possible.

When you hear foldable furniture, you may be thinking camping chairs from the seventies. The ones made of painted tubular steel frames with brightly coloured striped seats. Although their minimalist design may be practical, they lack beauty and comfort. Today, there are more stylish solutions when it comes to outdoor furniture, not only for seating. Here’s a selection of my favourite portable alternatives, stools and more.

Seating and lounging

Ready to roll with the quilted «Rolling Mat»? It may be sporting retro stripes, but when it comes to comfort, it’s nothing like the past. No matter where you want to build your outdoor oasis – with the mat it’s quickly done. The mat can easily be rolled out and back up thanks to its tie strings. It’s suitable for small outdoor areas as well as a picnic or two in the park.

You can connect the outdoor cushions from the set «Soft Corner» with zippers and convert them into a mattress. This replaces the sun lounger. One of the sides of the two-tone cover is decorated with a delicate striped pattern. By fastening the integrated strap around all three cushions, you stack them up to form the stool. This way you can store them in winter in the weather protection cover and save space.

Another two-in-one solution is futon chair «Hippo». It’s held together by velcro straps. If you detach it from the back of the chair and lift the armrest, Hippo «lies down» flat and turns into an outdoor mattress. Follow the instructions here.

The design «Nido» is also a multifunctional futon. By releasing the four velcro straps on the back of the chair, it unfolds into a half-moon mattress. The instruction video shows you relaxing positions in the folded version. Unfolded and leaning against the wall, two people fit.

The multifunctional lounge «Riviera» offers a generous relaxing area. If you fold up the backrest, it’s a chair with a table. The L-shape is perfect for filling out the corners of terraces or balconies.

The chair «Aito» is based on a similar system as a camping stool. Nevertheless, thanks to its material, it’s easy on the eyes. It’s made of lightweight teak wood. This makes it easy to carry to the sun deck. Besides, it’s stylish enough to stand in the living room in cold temperatures. Thanks to QDF padding material, meaning «Quick Dry Foam», which was developed for outdoor use and dries quickly, it’s especially lightweight.

The table surface of the model «Picnic» can be folded down if necessary. This makes it suitable for both small and large balconies. If you want to put the table away completely, simply fold down both tops and use the handle in the middle to carry it. The frame is made of powder-coated steel. Matching space-saving and stackable «Picnic» stools are available.

Table «Selandia» scores with similar properties as the model Picnic. It’s round and also foldable on both sides. Only the handle is missing and the material is different: Selandia is made of teak, which retains its honey brown colour with good care and natural oils.

That’s all from me now, but maybe you have other multifunctional garden furniture you can recommend for small spaces?
