Sustainable, affordable, beautiful: this is my favourite plain white T-shirt

It can be a real struggle to find the perfect white T-shirt. Fortunately, I came across one two years ago and am happy to share my find with you.
Finding the perfect white T-shirt should be easy, right? After all, pretty much every brand and clothing store sells this indispensable basic item. And yet, months and years of wearing tees with the wrong neckline, the wrong length, the wrong width, the wrong fabric thickness, the wrong sleeves, the wrong material and the wrong price can pass just like that.
At least in my experience. That’s until the shopping deities finally had mercy on me two years ago and blessed me with the Tarjaa shirt by Armedangels. My search came to an end, and I’ve never felt the need to buy a new white basic T-shirt since. And it costs under 50 francs.

Thick fabric, casual cut
This model’s a so-called heavyweight T-shirt. This means the fabric’s on the thick side and more textured. Thanks to the weight, it falls beautifully and is non-transparent. The T-shirt’s neither too short nor too long for my torso. Plus it has a comfortably loose fit without being overly baggy.
Further pretty details are the round neckline with its wide cuff and longish sleeves that almost reach the elbows. The Armedangels logo has the same colour as the shirt and is discreetly embroidered on the chest.

Off-white a softer alternative to pure white
At the time, I went for the undyed, off-white version. The creamy shade’s warmer and softer than pure white. It’s just as versatile as a bright white shirt and I find it looks great combined with dark tones. Off-white’s also a little less susceptible to stains.
Pure white and black are also available on our shop. In addition, Armedangels have exciting shades including lilac and lime green in its range. A similar white T-shirt from the brand’s men’s range is the model called Maarkos.
Fashion without the guilt
A key quality feature of the T-shirt is neither visible nor perceptible, but it’s all the more relevant. Armedangels was founded in Cologne in 2007 as an environmentally conscious brand. Since then, it’s been focused on sustainable materials, fair working conditions and timeless designs. The platform good on you, which rates fashion labels in terms of sustainability and ethics, gave the brand its best rating «great».
The Tarjaa shirt’s made from 50 per cent organic cotton and 50 per cent recycled cotton. The T-shirts are produced in Portugal by Valérius Têxteis, which is certified in line with both the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and the Global Recyled Standard (GRS). This means my favourite basic T-shirt is probably one of those precious gems that can be enjoyed without feeling guilty.
