Pia’s Picks: a nifty little wall decoration trick
Summer’s just around the corner, so I won’t be needing any cosy blankets for the next few months. At least, I hope not. How will I put my blankets to use over the warm summer months? By nailing them to the wall.
Blankets with expressive patterns, intricate crochet or weaving are often so pretty that it’s a shame to keep them folded up on the sofa. That’s why I’ve decided that until I’ve the wherewithal for a Picasso, I’ll hang them on the wall during the summer months. After all, Ferm Living and Bloomingville have already shown me how good this can look. Instead of hanging a painting above the sofa or a child’s bed, furniture brands are positioning their plaids on walls. This frames the furniture and grabs the textile artwork some extra attention.

Changing the position of a blanket can also add a splash of colour to the room or make it feel cosier. Most importantly, however, putting textiles on the wall improves acoustics. The larger and thicker they are, the more noise they absorb. See for yourself. In case you don’t have a suitable blanket, here are my current favourites from our range.
