My January skincare favourites

There are over 75,000 beauty products in our range. And counting. That’s quite a lot. Each month, I share my favourites from this infinity pool of new launches and established classics.

I first talked about my beauty favourites (link in German) in November, with the intention of doing so every month. Unfortunately, I already broke that promise in December. I was hard at work sabotaging my beauty routines. But, in the meantime, I’ve regained control of myself, so I actually have something to tell you about. It’s mainly skincare this time.

Organic Shea Butter from Farfalla

My home is full of snow in the winter. Mind you, not necessarily from the sky, but from my arms and legs. Dead skin cells. Do I hear you gagging? To put an end to the snow flurries in my pyjamas, I moisturise the affected areas twice a day. Pure old almond oil doesn’t get me very far, though. What does help get the itching and dryness under control is the Shea Butter from Farfalla. I actually discovered it last winter. It’s been a part of my winter gear ever since. But the product has one catch: the shea butter is solid, which means I have to warm it up between my hands before I can apply it. It’s worth the effort, though. My skin stays smooth and supple for hours.

Almond sensitive hand cream from Weleda

My hands prefer a less rich consistency. I’ve never really understood the whole hand cream thing. The thought of greasy fingers has always kept me away from it. But now, disinfectants and frequent hand-washing leave me no choice. This hand cream made with organic almond oil from Weleda is nourishing, but not as rich as other products. It helps prevent cracks and dry skin. And I don’t leave greasy fingerprints all over my apartment afterwards. It’s great for everyday use.

Strengthening nail polish remover from Londontown

Nail polish removers bring me as much joy as taking out the trash. Both are stinky but necessary evils. That’s why, until recently, my expectations for nail polish removers were rather low: cheap and preferably part of a two-for-one deal. Unfortunately, most removers leave a dull, whitish haze on my nails. It's as if they've drained my nails of all life. I needed to try something new. And the something new didn’t disappoint. The acetone-free strengthening remover from Londontown leaves no white haze on my nails, and it's vegan, too. It also removes glitter nail polish much more easily. That sure came in handy after the holidays.

Sensibio H2O micellar water from Bioderma

I don’t actually have sensitive skin, yet all micellar water leaves a slight burning sensation in my eye area; except for this one from Bioderma. I've been using the Sensibio H20 micellar water regularly for a good four years now and fall back on it after every failed attempt to try a new one. Just recently, I gave Garnier's new organic cornflower cleansing water a go. After just under five applications, I fell right back to my Bioderma Sensibio H20. That's because it not only removes my face makeup effortlessly, but also removes any stubborn eye makeup without irritating my skin in the slightest.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
