How to wear skirts and dresses in winter

Are your dresses too beautiful to be hibernated? Instead of hiding them in the basement, I advise you to continue wearing them despite the cold. All it takes is a few tricks!

Although I like winter fashion per se better than summer fashion, in autumn I feel a bit melancholic. When I change my wardrobe, I realise that summer is definitely over. That's why I keep wearing my dresses and skirts, tricking my mindset. Pleasant consequence: I add variety to my winter wardrobe dominated by trousers.

#1 Tights

The easiest way to stay warm during winter while wearing a dress is with tights. I recommend buying a pair of black tights or in a neutral shade - avoid flesh-coloured ones, please. They bulge and don't really look good on any physique. Also, you will rarely find a pair that is the exact colour of your complexion.
If you are cold, there are tights with a warming thermal effect. Alternatively, leggings will also do.

#2 Boots

Not only filigree sandals look good with a summer dress, but also boots of all kinds. Depending on the desired look, you can combine ankle boots, high boots, combat boots or Chelsea boots. My favourites are over-the-knee boots without heels. The advantage of this boot is that it comes above the knee and keeps your legs warm. Opt for a pair with a thick, contoured rubber sole so they don't slip on wet surfaces. A shoemaker can fit your boots with a rubber profile for little money. Wool socks and heating insoles offer double or triple protection from the cold.

#3 Dressing like an onion

This look is even better if the garments worn have different lengths. A short or long cardigan is suitable for this purpose. Of course, the cardigan can also be longer than the dress; I personally prefer this variant, the outfit looks more harmonious. A belt at the waist gives the cardigan shape and accentuates the middle part of the body.

Instead of a cardigan, a blazer also goes well with the dress.

#4 Functional underwear

Grandmothers everywhere send a kiss. The famous granny panties aren't so bad. Although not one of my favourites, thermal underwear under a dress works real wonders. Another advantage of thermal underwear is that it is warm and thermoregulating, so you won't sweat too much in excessively hot environments.

#5 Turtleneck

A turtleneck jumper does not only look good with a pair of jeans, but also with a dress. Because of the variety of the style, it can be worn both under and over a dress. This way you kill two birds with one stone. The most suitable model for this purpose is a tight-fitting fine knit. It will not bulge unsightly under the dress, making you look shapeless. Moreover, if the jumper is colour-coordinated with the dress, it completes the look in an instant.

Warm clothing:

Now all you need is a warm coat, gloves and a hat. Your new winter look with a summery touch is ready, now even cold temperatures won't be a problem.
