7 great socks that you can give away with a clear conscience

Socks may not exactly knock your socks off - but they certainly make a great gift. From delicate cashmere socks to printed eye-catchers: These styles really make a statement under the Christmas tree.
Socks are considered a bad Christmas present. Unglamorous, old-fashioned, impersonal - that's the common prejudice. In my opinion, this is complete rubbish. Carefully selected, socks can be extremely personal, stylish and yes, even luxurious. The fact that they are a Christmas running gag makes them all the more appealing.
A gift that is sure to be used
I have also received socks as a gift. A fluffy pair with nubs for at home. Was I totally blown away? Of course not. But was I still happy? Absolutely. Did I wear them? So much! They were still in use years later. And for me, one thing is clear: a gift that is used a lot and with pleasure is a good gift.
So before you make an obviously desperate last-minute purchase in the supermarket in the form of a random shower gel and body lotion set, I gently nudge you towards the socks section - but not towards the white socks in the pack of three. After all, we don't want any arguments or tears under the Christmas tree.
Here are seven socks that won't disappoint as a small gift:
1st gift set from Happy Socks
Colourful patterned socks that look stylish instead of tasteless are hard to find. However, the "Party Gift Set" from Happy Socks masters the balancing act with flying colours and also comes in a really pretty gift box.
2. thin woollen socks from Falke
I know that the "Cosy Wool" socks from Falke are a great gift because I received them myself at a press event. Although I would probably never have thought of spending 25 francs on a simple pair of socks otherwise, I'm now crazy about the cosy, warm feel of the merino-cashmere blend.
3rd cashmere socks from Cash-Mere
If you want to go one better: Cash-Mere has socks with 83 per cent cashmere content. The person receiving the gift will love to find out just how great they must feel.
4th rainbow set from Dilly Socks
Give the gift of a rainbow that spans the whole week with this Siebner set from Dilly Socks. The single-coloured, ribbed socks made from organic cotton bring colourful variety to everyday life - like dopamine dressing on a small scale.
5th alpaca socks from Falke
Self-knitted socks are a rarity in fast-moving times like these. The "Color Flakes" model from Falke brings back the charm of the Christmas classic with its DIY look and provides soothing warmth thanks to the multicoloured yarn made from alpaca and cotton.
6th sequin socks from Bleuforêt
The socks from Bleuforêt with wool and cashmere content have a coarsely knitted shaft that is trimmed with sequins and drapes casually around the ankle - a detail that is particularly effective in combination with loafers or slippers such as the Birkenstock "Boston".
7th studded socks from Falke
Even finch haters want warm feet in winter. The ideal solution? The "Homepads" or "Cuddle Pads" model from Falke with non-slip nubs and a warming merino inside. Head of Content Martin Jungfer swears by the "Lodge Homepad" version.
Additional tip
Good sports socks can be quite expensive over time and are therefore a great gift for exercise enthusiasts. As sport is not my speciality and I don't jog, ski or cycle, I don't dare to make any specific recommendations - it's best to browse here yourself.
