The thin Ortles Dyneema sling with low volume has a diameter of eight millimeters and a breaking strength of over 22 kilonewtons (kN). The 22 kilonewtons, or 2.2 tons, indicate the load at which the material fails. Dyneema fibers are characterized by their lightweight and strength – they are even lighter and stronger than steel and Kevlar.
