The thin Ortles Dyneema webbing sling with low volume has a diameter of eight millimetres and a breaking strength of over 22 kilonewtons (kN). The 22 kilonewtons, or 2.2 tonnes, describes the load at which the material fails. Dyneema fibres are characterised by their low weight and strength - they are even lighter and stronger than steel and Kevlar.

The special colour coding for immediate length recognition is not only used for the Ortles Dyneema webbing slings, but also for the Ortles Dyneema reefing ropes. The uniform colour system in green, blue, red and grey indicates the respective length and helps to quickly select the right material when climbing and mountaineering.
The Ortles Dyneema webbing sling is part of the standard equipment of every climber and is used for belaying as well as for intermediate or self-securing.
