Ready for barrel jeans? Here’s how to style them
Wide silhouettes are currently dominating the denim world. Barrel jeans are taking their turn and giving it a new dimension.
You have to hand it to jeans – although they’ve been with us for over a century and really never go out of fashion, they never tire of reinventing themselves. Perhaps that’s their secret too. From skinny to bootcut to baggy, from dangerously short to extra long to turned up – jeans are so versatile that sooner or later they will appeal to everyone. Their new kind is ... round.
Wide, round and all the rage
The term «barrel» describes the silhouette of the current up-and-coming trousers pretty accurately. Barrel jeans are not only cut comfortably wide, as is currently fashionable, but also stand out thanks to their bulbous curve at the outer side seams.

Worried you won’t pull it off? Just keep in mind 3 simple factors.
1. Create contrast with figure-hugging pieces
Wide, flared trousers look less bulky if you combine them with tops that have a slim or fitted cut.
2. Creating airiness with skin
Whether you flash a bit of tummy, bare arms or exposed ankles: visible skin areas counteract the effect of sinking into voluminous denim.
3. Creating an elongated look with the right shoe
Similar to point 2, it’s best to ensure that the back of your foot is as visible as possible when choosing your shoes. Wide-cut low shoes, sandals and pointy tips make your legs look longer.
Always in the mood for good hits, great trips and clinking drinks.
