Pia’s Picks: deep-sea treasures for your home

Seashells are a popular source of inspiration for design objects, especially when it comes to creating a look that reminds us of sun-kissed beaches and holiday serenity.

When I see Mediterranean interiors, I immediately dream of summer trips. Lounging on the beach with a view of the Aegean Sea, feeling the warm breeze and enjoying the gentle sound of the waves. One quick look at a nice maritime-style room immediately lifts my mood. Imagine I lived in such a space – what would that do with my mood?

To find out, I looked for decorative treasures and came across stylish objects in the shape of shells. Yes stylish, not your typical tourist shop souvenirs. While they come in many colours, I like them best in black or white because they go with everything.

White seashell designs

White shell-shaped vases and bowls are classic decorative pieces often seen in living rooms or bathrooms. They go well with flowers, jewellery or simply as works of art in their own right. All in white, their surface structure’s a real eye-catcher.

Black beach treasures

Shells in dark colours look elegant and sculptural, all while spreading summer vibes in your home. Shell-shaped lamps and lampshades bring warmth to the winter months, creating a diffused light that enhances that feeling of being out in the nature or at the beach.

In my Pia’s Picks series, I regularly showcase my favourite finds – things I might not need, but definitely want.
