Don't fancy a wreath? Then make yourself this Advent decoration

Before you give in completely to the gift-giving madness, take a few minutes to reflect and make a modern Advent wreath substitute. It doesn't require winches, gummy hands or wire skewers.
My family loves Christmas traditions. And pretty much all of them: Nativity scene, carol singing, tree and wreath; nothing is left out. No wonder I still cherish a few traditions. Year after year, I have made my own wreath. This year, however, I am totally behind schedule and no longer fancy the traditional ring. In order not to break with tradition completely, I have created a simple, decorative row of candles.
To get your little room ready for Christmas by Sunday, you need:
- 4 Kerzen
- A tray as a coaster
- Packing string
- Pine branches
- An embossing device

The branches come around the candles
The idea is to drape the branches nicely around the lights. To do this, I take some string and wrap it two or three times around the candle. Make sure you have enough excess string so that you can tie a bow at the end. Then cut twigs to the length and combination of your choice. Standard scissors should be sufficient in most cases, otherwise use secateurs.

I tie my tuft together with a knot before attaching it to the candle so that it doesn't fall out of shape. Then simply secure it to the candle with a double knot and decorate with a bow. Once you have decorated all four lights, you can actually spread them out on the saucer and surround them with the remaining twigs as required.

Written to
Since my candles are all the same size, I want to label them. To do this, I use an embosser and write out the numbers one to four. The labels are self-adhesive so that I can stick them to the candles above the branches. If they don't stick, you can heat the wax in the chosen spot with a lighter and press the strip in.

My super quick "Advent wreath" is ready. You can even get it done on Sunday morning and have enough time to look at more DIYs in my author profile by nightfall.
