Best of beauty: my January favourites

At Galaxus, you’ll find over 80,000 beauty products. And counting. That’s quite a lot. Each month, I share my favourites from this pool of new launches and established classics.
«I’ll use up my products before buying new ones!» I kicked this New Year’s resolution to the curb – hard – back in early January. To be honest, this wasn’t the smartest goal to set myself, considering that testing products is part of my job. So, I’m starting the new year resolution-free – at least when it comes to beauty products. But hey, I have a new batch of favourites to share with you.
Concealer Serum by Nyx Professional Makeup
2021 was the year of the serum foundation. Matching concealers are now following, such as this one by Nyx which the brand launched as part of its «Bare With Me» line. It offers light coverage, plenty of moisture, a natural finish and leaves my skin glowing. Moisturising concealers are more prone to settle in fine lines (referred to as creasing). With Nyx’s Concealer Serum, creasing is minimal because the pigment content is so low. If I set the product on my skin with a powder, it stays put. And don’t worry: it offers enough coverage to conceal light under-eye circles. The best way to apply concealer is with your fingers. It gives you maximum coverage, and no product gets sucked up by the brush or sponge.

Body Bar by Foamie
You’d be hard pressed to find a classic shower gel in my bathroom. I prefer a high-yield, package-free bar of soap or the shower oil I mentioned last month. I’m currently testing the Foamie’s solid shower bar with oat milk and papaya. And I’m loving it for several reasons: it smells fruity, has a nourishing as well as exfoliating effect, can be hung on a tab to dry and is profiled to have massage nubs. It’s also free from plastic, parabens, silicones, sulphates, nanoparticles and soap. The latter ensures that the pH value of the product mimics that of the skin.

Waterproof Lash Paradise Mascara by L’Oréal Paris
Waterproof mascara is difficult to remove, which is why I only use it in rare cases. For example, in snow flurries, on rainy or foggy days, or when I unexpectedly discover a plane ticket to the Maldives on my door mat. Granted, the latter hasn’t actually happened. Yet. But the waterproof Lash Paradise Mascara by L’Oréal, would be perfect for a beach vacation in paradise. Not only does the product add volume to my lashes, but it also stands up to wet weather (I’m sure swimming would be no problem either); I don’t have to worry about smudged or flaking mascara. And it’s not even that difficult to remove with a two-phase make-up remover.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
