Does the unit have a hose ?

No, this is an air cooler, not an air conditioner, you fill it with water and a fan will then blow on a humidified cloth or filter, a waste of money. Cooling capacity is achieved by evaporation of water. I strongly advise against buying one of these, because it may cool the air within a radius of about 1 to 2 m (a few degrees), but the air is humidified and that is the wrong thing to do anyway, especially when it is hot. For proper cooling you need an air conditioner and yes, that would have an exhaust hose. You would get the same effect as with an air cooler if you blew on a wet cloth with a stand fan.

Is there a smartphone app for this?

Unfortunately, there is no such thing. I strongly advise against buying an air cooler, these devices are all worthless. The cooling power, if any, is only available in close proximity and only if the fans are constantly blowing at you. These devices are a technical illusion, because they add humidity to the already warm air. This is doubly unpleasant. You can save the money for that. I recommend a real air conditioner, which doesn't have to be in operation all the time, but at least it can cool properly. One of the cheapest models would be this one, it has a capacity of 8000 BTU (for comparison, the Coldtech Air Cooler model manages a paltry 205 BTU, which cools nothing down). Kibernetik MK Light (8000 BTU/h) Or this one, it's not very expensive either: Fakir AC 70 64 dB (7847.93 BTU/h)

Is it good at cooling down a whole room?

This depends, on the one hand, on the size of the room and, on the other hand, on the use and as frequent as possible alternation of cold water and (as large as possible) cooling elements. From my experience, a certain but rather moderate cooling is possible under the aforementioned conditions (perhaps +/- 3°C). Since the unit works with water (and cooling elements), be careful not to over-humidify the room!

Helpful answer

No cooling without water... The functional principle is based on the evaporation of water. The cooling elements cool the water, making the evaporative cooling more pronounced.
