Hello!
I am setting up a blade server for IPFire with :
-Case: Intertech K-126L
- MB: Asus Prime N100I-D D4-CSM (NA Cpu integrated), Mini-ITX
- Power supply: Internetch Argus FA-250
(1U cover) Intertech 88885341 - Rack accessories - 1 HU
So far, I've got almost everything I need, except a second RJ45 card, because I need two RJ45s, one input for the WAN (IPFire RED) and one output for the LAN (IPFire GREEN). I'm afraid I'll get the wrong pci card and it won't fit in the 1U box.
So my question is: What cheap card (max CHF 100.-) could fulfil this role? The only condition - apart from the fact that it fits in the case - is that it supports 1,000 Mb/s speed. WLAN is not an issue, everything has to be wired.
As far as power is concerned, I'm not at all worried, because IPFire doesn't require much power without the IPS and antivirus. The main thing is that I'd like to be able to integrate the whole thing into my homelab at a lower cost and test it out.
Thanks in advance for your insight!
Stephane
Hello everyone
Initial situation:
- Internet subscription: Sunrise We Home L+, theoretical 10 Gbit/s up/down, ZyXEL Sunrise Fibre Internet Box, Fibre to the Home
- PC connected via WLAN (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/asus-pce-ac56-pci-e-x1-netzwerkkarte-3824692?supplier=406802) It's getting on in years, so it's a bit older, but still theoretically 400 Mbit/s down. The antennas have been optimally aligned.
- The PC is about 5 metres "as the crow flies" from the router in another room. Theoretically nothing in between, except for a door that is actually always open, i.e. a wall in between
- Measured speed at the moment: 100Mbit/s down, if things are going well
- Directly with the cable I am at 900Mbit/s down
I have now installed a Sunrise Powerline Connection MT2706 kit (1200Mbit/s, theoretically). It didn't help, it got even worse (approx. 30 Mbit/s).
I need your help.
Is a new WLAN card worthwhile? e.g. https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/asus-pce-ax58bt-ax3000-wifi-6-adapter-pcie-netzwerkkarte-11853685 , with WIFI6?
Unfortunately, pulling a cable is not an option as this is a rented flat and I don't think a better powerline is necessary.
What do you think?
Thank you, Fedier
