There are simple tricks you can use to arrange your clothes to your liking. I want to present them to you in a multi-part series.

Hand on heart: how many times have you bought clothes that do not fit well? I can say a thing or two about that. If I like something, I buy it. And it doesn't matter if the supposed garment of my dreams is sold out in my size. I tell myself that I look better in a larger or smaller size: wrong! I no longer want these skeletons in my wardrobe. I will show you how you can wear clothes that no longer fit again. Or how you can use accessories for other purposes to add variety to your wardrobe. In the second part of this series, I widen a trouser waistband that is too tight without needle and thread.

Weekly Fashion Hack: how to tighten your trousers at the waist

    by Vanessa Kim

Last week I narrowed a trouser waistband that was too wide. Now it's the turn of my second skeleton in the wardrobe: a pair of jeans that are tight from lockdown. All you need for this fashion trick is an elastic band, or rather a hair elastic. The latter is more durable and already in my shopping cart, as I don't have any more. Before closing the trousers as usual, I pull the elastic halfway up the buttonhole and through itself. Now I tighten everything up and attach the loop created with the elastic to the button of my jeans.

Depending on the size of the elastic, you can widen the waistband of your trousers. By tying another knot in the elastic, you tighten the trousers. And that's it. The jeans are more comfortable and I don't have to pull my belly in. I am likely to adopt this method for other trousers at the beginning of January, if I eat too much between Christmas and New Year.

In the next episode, I'll tell you how to make sure your shop stays closed, in case it keeps opening by itself.
