These swimming trunk brands might sound pretty standard, but they’re surprisingly good

«Why roam so far away when the good is so close?» Who knows? Maybe Goethe was referring to our swimming trunks range. I’ve clicked through 9,445 products and can confirm that the best of them are from the most obvious brands.

Sure, we all want to be unique. And to be able to reply to, «Cool swim trunks! Where did you get them from?» with «Thanks for asking. They’re from Hom, a brand from Marseille that has specialised in high-quality men’s underwear and swimwear since 1968.» That certainly sounds more impressive than «Nike».

But just because something is special doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. So, after a (lengthy) deep dive into our swimwear range, let me tell you this: sometimes it’s simply worth sticking with established, unpretentious brands. The following three are good examples.

Nike

That’s right, Nike, the sports giant from Beaverton, Oregon. The company well-known for producing jerseys, running shoes, socks, tracksuits, tennis gear… and tons more. Among other things, swimwear, too. The pieces are primarily functional, designed for actual swimming. But also for those who just want to be by and in the water while looking summery.

By the way, I bet you’ve been pronouncing Nike wrong this whole time? Click here to find out how to say it correctly.

Decathlon

Much like Nike, the French company Decathlon offers everything a sports enthusiast could want. And all at prices that are almost unbelievably reasonable. The great thing about these Decathlon board shorts? They have a cropped cut for plenty of freedom of movement—and are currently in fashion. Seamless inner linings help prevent chafing and skin irritation.

Jack & Jones

The Danish brand, which regularly publishes a list of its production facilities and suppliers for the sake of transparency, mainly stands out in the swimwear category for its understated colours and fun prints. The shorts are made from recycled polyester and look great – even away from the beach.
