Too little paper? Not with this trick

You want to wrap a gift in shiny paper, but there's a gap in the centre? Too little paper or too much cardboard. Either way, it won't fit - unless you know this trick.

The presents are bought. At least partially. What a relief, but the next task is already waiting. All the expensive boxes need to be beautifully wrapped. I love doing this, wrapping presents is my meditation. As a child, I used to wrap everyday objects in paper at the parcel stations in department stores. Just for me, because it looks pretty.

What doesn't fit...

Despite this great passion for wrapping, I keep coming up against a problem: too little gift wrap. Either I cut too little due to a mixture of overconfidence and poor judgement or the end of the roll just doesn't give me enough. In the first case, I cut another piece to size or simply filled the hole with a thin strip of paper. In the second case, I bought a new roll in the shop. That costs time and material.

That's not how it works.
That's not how it works.
Neither does this.
Neither does this.

...will be made to fit

Surfing on reddit also takes time, but it's worth it. I came across something there that I wish I had known earlier. Namely, how to get a gift completely wrapped, even though it doesn't look like it at first. Don't wrap your gift crosswise or lengthwise, but diagonally. This trick is so simple that, looking back, I feel pretty stupid for never having thought of it.

Simply turn the paper diagonally.
Simply turn the paper diagonally.
And it fits like a glove.
And it fits like a glove.
