The easy way to give your turned-up jeans that certain something

My virtual pinboards and folders with DIY ideas are full to the brim. An easy project for spring: embroidered trouser hems.

Whether you're getting ready for the ankle-out season or could do with a few centimetres less of jeans in general - turning up the hem is quick and easy. Effective, of course, but not really an exciting hack. The Instagram account @fredi_boldt has found a cute way to turn rolled-up trouser legs into a colourful eye-catcher.

Plant drawing can't be that difficult, I think to myself, and with a few clicks I add embroidery needles, embroidery hoops and embroidery thread to my Galaxus shopping basket:

Then I can get started. You don't really need any special skills - not even the embroidery hoop is really necessary, I concluded after a few stitches. Nevertheless, it is of course nice to have to keep the fabric nice and tight.

Including hooping, threading and loose stitching, I need about 20 minutes for the first two flowers. Then more ideas for motifs start running through my head. Planets, flames, lettering, ... Without further ado, I try out an (admittedly somewhat loveless) smiley on the other trouser leg - this time without an embroidery hoop. I like it. Maybe even better than the flowers?

After a short creative break, I will decide which motif I will continue with or whether I will embroider several pairs of trousers at once. The fact is: embroidering is child's play, a great way to pass the time (while listening to a podcast or watching a series) and makes for a cute visual highlight. Why not give it a try.
