Pia’s Picks: home accessories for the dog I don’t (yet) own
I don’t have a dog. But should I one day, its home accessories will have to meet the same aesthetic and quality standards as mine.
I accidentally added a few pet supplies to my watch list recently. The mistake was easily done. Because, in terms of look and quality, they’ve become almost indistinguishable from accessories and furniture designed for humans. Most of the dog supplies that appealed to me would go perfectly with my interior design style. Yes, that’s how stylish my home would look if I were to welcome in a dog one of these days.
Beautiful bed
First up, I’d invest in a dog bed that also happens to be a feast for the eyes. Like the «Otto» by Oyoy, for example. Its frame is made of one hundred per cent rattan, exudes summer vibes and goes well with other furniture made of natural materials.

The Oyoy «Milo» dog bed, with its minimalist appeal, would also be one of my favourites. It consists of a slender, powder-coated frame and features a a sturdy, removable canvas cover. But it’s the «Bowie» bed that really floats my boat. The sunny yellow makes it a real eye-catcher. Plus its svelte, space-saving silhouette means it fits nicely in any corner.
If I were to create a cosy corner for my pooch in addition to a bed, my first choice would be the versatile «Milo Grid». This dog cushion has a handle for easy transport as well as a removable cover. But the true highlight for me is its lattice pattern. It reminds me of the checks featured on the design classic «Quaderna» by Italian brand Zanotta. I just can’t get enough of that pattern.

I’m a big fan of round shapes, so it’s not surprising I was taken with «Roy Dusty Pink» by Pet & Co. It’s adorned with a cotton corduroy cover and would beautifully contrast an angular sofa, for example. It’s rivalled by the round «Ronny» cushion, which is particularly cosy thanks to its raised edge.
Classy ceramics
Valuing aesthetics as I do, even a food bowl would have to live up to my design standards. Needless to say, I wouldn’t give a metal or plastic bowl house room. I’d opt for ceramics instead, and would find just that at Oyoy and Kave Home. Their range include pastel designs with a delicate polka dot pattern, which would perfectly match my speckled tableware.

All the love I’d put into keeping my dog hydrated would also go into giving it treats. I’d keep them in a ceramic container such as the «Bandit» by Bloomingville. And should there be spills or crumbs, the Oyoy pad or Cloud 7 would come to the rescue. Both protect the floor and frame the dining area at the same time – just like dishes on a dining table.
Fun and play
Toys that serve their purpose and look good at the same time would be a must-have. Take the Oyoy «Ashi» pillow. It’s made to be tugged at and chewed, but also accentuates the room with its colourful nautical pattern.

The green or yellow model of the «Dog Rope Toy» by Wander Dog is a lovely splash of colour. The toy’s decorative and timeless thanks to its spherical shape. If I had to choose a more natural look, I’d go for the neutral design by Beat Grossenbacher. The chew pillow is easy to transport and has a white striped jute cover.
