Make-up bags, what could be more exciting? I love peeking inside and being inspired by what others love to use. Fellow editor Anika was next up on my list.
How often have you bought something recommended to you by a friend? I can’t even count the times! Fellow editor and beauty fan Anika Schulz is one of those trusted people. I regularly talk to her about the latest drugstore discoveries and the like – I’ve already bought one or two tidbits on her recommendation. But even if you don’t intend to buy anything, it’s often worth having a look into other people’s bags. It’s exciting, and you learn something about that person.
For this two-part series, Anika granted me a peek into her make-up bag. I’d love to find out more about three products in it. In return, Anika was allowed to rummage around my bag as well as take a closer look at three items. You can find the post with my favourites at the very end of this article.

Yippie, I love getting hand cream recommendations! What’s so special about this one?
Anika: I like it because it has such a wonderfully intense rosemary and ginger smell. Even long after you apply the cream. Other creams work differently, their scent disappearing after just a few minutes. It’s also absorbed super quickly and keeps my dry winter hands nice and soft with urea and hyaluronic acid. And I like the retro packaging with a cap that looks like a real tool screw.
Whole Body Deo from Dove
Now hold on a second. A full-body deodorant?
Anika: I discovered Dove’s full-body deodorant last summer when I was looking for something that smelled light (I love lavender!) and protected at the same time. I’m one of those people who sweat on every inch of skin when it’s over 25 degrees, which gets annoying. I can apply the deodorant under my breasts, among other things. This way, laundry stays fresh for longer and I feel less sticky. My deodorant is a stick, and it’s also available as a cream, but some local drugstores are currently discontinuing it. Could be that the stick will only be available next summer.

Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation by Maybelline
I have to admit, I’ve rarely dared to try drugstore foundations before. Convince me!
Anika: I’m not really a Maybelline fan, but the Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation is just great. I have a very cool undertone and it’s sooo hard to find a foundation in drugstores that mattifies it. Most primers are far too warm for me and look orangey. The Lumi mat is completely different. I apply shade 108 and see absolutely NOTHING after blending with a brush. And I mean that in the best way. My complexion looks smooth, even, slightly silky and totally natural, with no edges on the neck or hairline. Simply perfect.
