Yup, it’s hot. But I’m not here to complain. I just want to share some tips and provide a little assistance. Here are my beauty must-haves to cool, protect and set your face in summer temperatures.
Nothing wakes up my tired eyes in the morning faster than cooling eye patches. In summer, they’re also a welcome boost of freshness and I like to stick them on in the afternoon when the air in my home office is unbearably warm and stuffy. The crescent-shaped masks are kept in the fridge for this purpose. The ones I’m currently using are the Pink Blur Hydrogel Eyepatches from G9. Unfortunately, they’re unavailable on our online shop at the moment. Here are three alternatives that should do the same job.
Does your T-zone shine after a few minutes in the sun? I know it all too well. Of course you can powder yourself every 15 minutes. But after a few rounds, you’ll look like a crumbly cookie. What’s more, heat doesn’t go well with generously layered make-up. A safer solution comes in the form of oil control paper such as this one from Essence. These small pieces of paper absorb excess sebum and sweat and mattify your face without ruining your make-up. Simply press against your skin and be amazed. They’re reminiscent of a grease-soaked paper bag you wrap croissants in after you’ve used them.
If you want to produce less waste, you can also use the washable roller from Revlon. It just takes a little more time, but works just as well, as you can see in the video here (click the gear icon for English subtitles).
On the subject of an oily T-zone, I have another recommendation for you – mattifying primers. These are good for skin that gets oily quickly, especially in summer. The Blurring Balm Powder by Danessa Myricks in shade Universal is my current favourite. The creamy paste minimises the visibility of pores and keeps my oily «problem areas» at bay throughout the day. The active ingredient I have to thank for this great performance is called Upsalite. It absorbs excess oil and mattifies the skin.
The nice extra touch is, it comes with a small spatula in the lid. Universal isn’t available on Galaxus currently. However, there are similar tinted versions that offer light coverage or blushes from the same line.
If you wear make-up in summer and want to refresh your UV protection, you don’t have many options. At the moment, my go-to is the Garnier Super UV Over Make-up Spray with sun protection factor 50+. Simply shake well, spray on and enjoy the cooling breeze from the aerosol can. Best of all, the protective film isn’t greasy and leaves no visible traces.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
