Make your own lip care

You can make a tinted lip moisturiser from your lonely lipsticks in no time at all. I'll tell you how to do it.
Do you also have lipsticks lying around at home that you never use? For me, these are the ones I bought without testing them first. When I get home and look in the mirror, I quickly realise that I don't like them when I apply them. Too matt, too drying or too bright. It would be a shame to throw them away, but giving them away would be unhygienic. That's why I made tinted lip balms from them with a little effort in my in-house cosmetics lab - my kitchen.
You will need:
- Lipstick(s)
- Coconut oil
- Shea butter
- Food grade beeswax
- optional: essential oils or extracts of your choice
- knife
- Pan
- Small jars or tins

How it works:
Heat a tablespoon of shea butter, a tablespoon of coconut oil and three quarters of a tablespoon of beeswax together with a piece of lipstick in a pan, stirring constantly. You can of course scale these quantities to the size of your tin. For me, this amount is enough for a jar with a capacity of 20 millilitres. The more pigmented you want your lip care to be, the more lipstick you can add. Start with a little and add more until the colour intensity meets your expectations. You can also mix lipsticks to create the colour you want.

Once everything is melted and blended, you can remove the pan from the heat and optionally add a few drops of essential oil or extract to scent the mixture. I myself have used cosmetic vanilla extract. If you suffer from allergies, I would avoid it.
Now you can fill the jar and leave it to harden in the fridge.

Important: Use enough beeswax, as it ensures that your care product remains solid at room temperature. If you use too little, the product will run out in your handbag as soon as the coconut oil in it liquefies. I failed one out of three attempts. That's why I advise you to leave the jars at room temperature for a while after a short time in the fridge. If the consistency of the contents remains solid, you've done everything right. If it liquefies, you can correct your mistake by heating the mixture again in the pan and adding more beeswax.

I have placed my own creations prominently next to my laptop. So I use my once lonely lipsticks every day - well, indirectly. 💄

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
