"Schnitz und drunder" Season 2, now with guests
by Simon Balissat
Every Thursday from 11 a.m., we cook together in the YouTube cookery show "Schnitz und Drunder". The show is named after a typical dish from Aargau, a bit of home for me as an exile from Baden in Zurich. This week's dish is a grilled cheese sandwich.
Easy to learn, difficult to master. The English proverb cannot be translated so succinctly into German, but it applies perfectly to grilled cheese sandwiches. There is a world of difference between dry toast with sliced cheese from the oven and grilled cheese from the pan. I'll show you how to make the mother of all grilled cheeses. In addition to a non-stick pan, you will need a pan to weigh it down and baking paper.
Ingredients
Grilled cheese
Salad
On 2 April 2020 from 11.00 a.m., the recipe will be livestreamed from a first-person perspective. This ensures social distancing. Later it will also be available on YouTube and here as text.
When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
