Galaxus Wallflowers: dry bag or changing backpack?

On the one hand, you have stars and starlets. On the other, you have the bench players. And in the Galaxus product range, it’s no different. Some items live out a shadowy existence, unnoticed by the public. Take the «Klein», or small dry bag, from Wickelfisch.

In the 1960s, Andy Warhol coined the expression «15 minutes of fame», thus suggesting that in a future world, everyone would be world famous for a little while. Anyone and everyone? Not quite. There are some who never make it into the limelight. Not even for fifteen minutes. Take the «Klein», or small dry bag, from Wickelfisch. But that’s going to change now, at least for a few minutes. It’s not like it has to be 15.

But this small dry bag’s so cute!

Dry bags seem to be the product of the hour. It’s no wonder, either – after a rainy April and May, it’s high summer. Spring? Rained off.

And so, having a dry bag is a great thing. Especially the roll-top dry bag fish – a Basel invention, by the way. Why Basel of all places? Well, if you don’t live by the lake, you opt for the Rhine. Since it always carries you downstream, it makes sense to take all your stuff with you into the water while keeping it dry. Think clothes, shoes and whatever else you’re carrying. I have a dry bag, too. Not a fish to be exact, but a roll-top dry backpack.

It’s not as cute as its little fish brother, but with its 30-litre volume it can hold just about anything. And that’s probably why the little fish is consistently overlooked. After all, all you’d be able to fit in it are your keys, phone and wallet. But what about the rest of your stuff? My point exactly.

This fish-shaped roll-top dry bag is sinking

If you search for «dry bag» in our shop, you’ll be hit with just over 800 products to choose from. These are typically sorted according to relevance. In other words, you’ll see the most relevant bags first and then it goes steadily downhill. All the way down to number 801. You can find out how products are sorted and displayed here. Simply put, it all comes down to:

  • search query accuracy
  • users’ search and shopping habits
  • availability and estimated delivery time
  • popularity and novelty
  • attractiveness and price

After taking all these criteria into consideration, the Kleine by Wickelfisch is floating around in no-man’s land. Or, to put it another way, no one seems to give a toss about the cute little dry bag. In certain cases, size does seem to matter after all.

The Galaxus range is home to products that nobody sees, nobody knows and nobody wants. But even these bench players deserve a little attention. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to showcase our Galaxus wallflowers from time to time.
