Galaxus wallflowers: this watch winder isn’t making the Community tick

On the one hand, you have stars and starlets. On the other, you have the bench players. And in the Galaxus product range, it’s no different. Some items live out a shadowy existence, unnoticed by the public. Take this Chronovision watch winder safe, the Guardian Wild Nature 8 - H3, for instance. In this case, being out of the limelight might actually be a good thing for once.
In the 1960s, Andy Warhol coined the expression «15 minutes of fame», thus suggesting that in a future world, everyone would be world famous for a little while. Anyone and everyone? Not quite. There are some who never make it into the limelight. Not even for fifteen minutes. Take this Chronovision watch winder, for example. But that’s going to change now, at least for a few minutes. It’s not like it has to be 15.

Discretion over limelight
But wait a minute. This eye-wateringly expensive watch winder is actually a safe made of Douglas fir wood, MDF (an engineered wood product made of compressed wood fibres, glue and additives) and steel. At first, I thought a watch winder was a person who literally went around cranking up rich people’s watches. But no matter. People who can afford a safe that expensive and still have enough cash for luxury watches are bound to value discretion.
Anything else would only generate unnecessary attention; something the wearer of Rolexes and whatnot would certainly want to avoid. Otherwise, it’d all end up like the plot of the «Violet» episode in the Netflix series «Kaleidoscope», when protagonist Leo and his accomplice break into a wealthy person’s house, crack their safe and make off with an expensive watch.
Chronovision’s Guardian Wild Nature 8 - H3 is super discrete
At the time of writing, searching «watch winders» gives you a selection of 358 products, generally sorted according to relevance. In other words, the most relevant winders appear first, before other products are listed in decreasing relevance until hitting number 358. You can find out how products are sorted and displayed here. Simply put, it all comes down to:
- search query accuracy
- users’ search and shopping habits
- availability and estimated delivery time
- popularity and novelty
- attractiveness and price
Taking all these criteria into account, Chronovision’s Guardian Wild Nature 8 - H3 has slipped very discretely into the background and doesn’t seem to be persuading anyone to buy it. No relevance and no attention for this wallflower, basically. And maybe, just this once, that’s actually a good thing.
By the way, the most relevant watch winder on Galaxus is available at a considerably cheaper price. At the moment, it costs a whopping 83,869 francs less than the Chronovision model.
The Galaxus range is home to products that nobody sees, nobody knows and nobody wants. But even these bench players deserve a little attention. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to showcase our Galaxus wallflowers from time to time.*
