Popsicle Vol. 4: Iced Mocha Pops

Ice lollies can be enjoyed in many variations. In this 5-part series, I present my favourite recipes. Today it's a portion of chilled caffeine.

Coffee has never really been my thing. Not even to wake me up - I can manage without it. More or less. But I'm happy to make an exception for coffee in ice cream form.

For four popsicles you need:

  • One cup of black coffee
  • 1 tsp sugar optional for the very sweet among you
  • 3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
  • 20g dark chocolate
  • 4 ice cream moulds
  • Some aluminium foil
  • Wood sticks

And this is how it's done:

Step 1: Make yourself a cup of black coffee whatever and however you like best.

Step 2: If you want to make use of the optional teaspoon of sugar, add it and dissolve it while the coffee is still hot.

Step 3: Add the condensed milk, mix well and leave to cool so that the chocolate, which will be added in the next step, does not melt.

Step 4: Chop the chocolate into small cubes and add them to the cooled liquid. Alternatively, you can also buy ready-made chocolate chips. They look a bit like coffee beans and fit the theme very well.

Step 5: Cut a piece of aluminium foil, fold it once and cover the opening of the moulds with it. Then use a sharp knife to cut a slit in the foil over each opening, through which you can thread the handle.

Step 6: After five hours, the ice cream should be ready to eat. To make it easier to get it out of the mould, you can briefly run it under warm water.

Coffee break with a difference, I'd say.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
