Bird's hay with tomato salad

I always cook from 11am in the livestream on YouTube and Facebook. Today it's bird hay with tomato salad.

Eggs, stale bread and milk, that's all you need for this poor man's meal. You can serve it with apples and cinnamon sugar for a sweet version or with onions and bacon for a savoury version. The bird's hay is served with a tomato salad because I still had cherry tomatoes in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • Stale bread
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Onions
  • Bacon
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Vinegar and oil

Recipe

Bird's hay

  • Cut the bread into bite-sized cubes and fry in a little butter over a medium heat until crispy
  • Fry the onions and diced bacon in a second pan until translucent and add to the bread
  • Cast the egg and milk over the bread cubes and fry, turning constantly, until the egg sets

Tomato salad

  • Add vinegar, salt and three pressed garlic cloves, then remove the garlic
  • Cut the cherry tomatoes in half, pour the vinegar over them, then drizzle with olive oil and serve the salad

When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
