Best of Beauty: 3 light foundations to guarantee your glow

At Galaxus you’ll find over 80 000 beauty products – with more to come. That’s quite a range. For just that reason, I regularly share my favourites from a pool of both novelties and classics with you. Up today: lightweight foundations to give your complexion that radiant glow.
The more make-up I wear in the summer, the more the sauce melts off my face in high temperatures. That’s why I keep it as light as can be around this time of year. I steer clear of thick, heavily opaque formulas. What I want is a natural finish that makes me look like I take my vitamins at eight in the morning every day on the day. Together with some cream bronzer and blush, it makes for a pretty fresh overall look.
Here are, sorted by increasing opacity, my current favourite summer foundations that meet exactly these criteria.
The shy one: Double Wear Sheer Long-Wear Make-up by Estée Lauder
Estée Lauder's classic Double Wear Foundation is associated by most with a matt face and strong, long-lasting coverage. In the meantime, however, numerous other foundations have been launched under the «Double Wear» line, which also meet other needs. Among them the Sheer Long-Wear brand with sun protection factor 20: an ultra-fluid texture that contains just enough pigment to visibly even out your complexion while allowing your skin to shine through. But you can’t conceal pimples with it. The result: your skin looks like, well, skin – only fresher and more even. By the way, powdering is optional after application, as the product dries and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling. In addition, the make-up lasts all day.
The travel-suitable plastic tube is also a plus. Its lightweight and compact format may be smaller in design compared to other products, but it contains the standard 30 millilitres.

Overpromising can lead to severe disappointment. Or it becomes everyone’s favourite, as in the case of Make Up For Ever’s Reboot Foundation, which lives up to all its claims. It was launched two years ago and has been one of my absolute favourite foundations ever since. After application, my skin looks like a candied apple: fresh, plump, smoothed, hydrated, even, and simply scrumptious. Compared to Estée Lauder’s product, you get a bit more coverage and luminosity here, but the product doesn’t last quite as long. Dry skin in particular can look forward to an extra helping of moisture. I removed the slightly damp film that the product leaves on your skin with a reflective powder.
If you tend to have very oily skin, this foundation might be too much of a good thing. In that case you might prefer the following one:
Ol’ Reliable: Light Reflecting Foundation by Nars
This one is marriage material – in both senses: on the one hand, the Light Reflecting Foundation is packed with so many good features that I’d commit to it forever. At the same time, it’s such a reliable, long-lasting companion through the day that it qualifies as a base for wedding make-up. Nars’ latest creation is a hybrid of make-up and skincare, has buildable medium coverage, a lightweight formula, and leaves a velvety finish that visually smooths my skin. Smaller pimples and redness can just be covered up with it.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
