Extra-wide trousers, striped shirts and branded beanies: spring fashion inspo
by Laura Scholz
Until it’s sweater weather, T-shirts are front and centre of the fashion stage. Here’s how the T-shape will play the leading role this autumn.
The time for thick sweaters is quickly approaching. So the window of opportunity for some kind of summery top and the infamous transitional jacket is getting smaller and smaller. Hurry! The T-shirt trend has never been as strong as it is now. In fact, there are actually three of them:
Tops with contrasting hemlines serve a very similar aesthetic. The focus isn’t on the cut, though. These don’t have raglan sleeves. In fact, you could consider them a gateway model to the baseball shirt. Worn under a jacket, they could still be mistaken for one another. The only difference is, unlike the loose-fitting baseball shirt, contrast T-shirts have a more figure-hugging cut.
Layered shirts – short-sleeved over long-sleeved – also go under transitional jackets. Does that trigger fond memories of 90s skate aesthetics in you? That’s right, the layered look has been around before. Today, it’s less about baggy pants and rolling boards and more about straight jeans and casual chinos. What’s also practical is, T-shirt duos like this are even available to buy ready-made.
Always in the mood for good hits, great trips and clinking drinks.
Practical solutions for everyday problems with technology, household hacks and much more.
Show allWhether short, ¾ length or long sleeved – the main thing is that the sleeves follow the raglan cut. This means that they’re not sewn vertically to the shoulder, but at an angle from the neck towards the armpit. The reason? You can move in them more easily. That’s why the shirts are particularly popular in sports – baseball, for example. A contrasting colour makes the raglan sleeves stand out visually and is one of their characteristic features. This autumn, you don’t have to stand in centre field or hit a home run to wear one of these T-shirts.
