Sorry for the stupid question but does it need to plugged into an electrical socket for it to run? I don't have one unfortunately in my toilet...
Questions are not stupid and yes it needs power, so you need a socket.

Yes, it needs electricity. I was able to plug it into my mirror cabinet. It's not the most attractive solution, but it does the job.
