Question about Intex Rectangular Frame

Hallo......am also a pool owner since recently now my questions: The cartridge filter pump says DO NOT operate when someone is in the water. how do you do it? Do you really have to switch it off? Does it run through? If you have covered the pool, do you leave the pump running? ....Thank you for your answer.
