The strong air compression created by rapidly pressing the piston down into the cylinder ignites the tinder inside. Transfer the glowing ember to ignite your campfire or outdoor kitchen. The Fire Piston is shorter than a hand's length and is stored in a practical transport pouch. It fits into any type of luggage and can even be conveniently carried in your pocket. The tinder supply and lubricant are housed in containers at each end of the piston and cylinder, optimally protected from moisture. After filling the piston head with tinder, the Petromax Fire Piston is ready for immediate use. Additionally, there is a fire steel rod inside the piston, providing you with a reliable ignition alternative.
