The strong air compression created by rapidly pushing down the piston in the sleeve ignites the tinder inside. Transfer the glowing ember to ignite your campfire or outdoor kitchen. The Fire Piston is shorter than a hand's length and is stored in a practical transport pouch. It fits into any type of luggage and can even be comfortably carried in your pocket. The tinder supply and lubricant are housed in containers at each end of the piston and sleeve, keeping them optimally protected from moisture. After filling the piston head with tinder, the Petromax Fire Piston is ready for immediate use. Additionally, there is a rod firestone inside the piston, providing you with a reliable ignition alternative.
