Made from pure beech wood, this charcoal burns particularly hot and lasts a long time. With the electric chimney starter, the hand-selected charcoal can be ignited in a short time. It is ready for use in just 15-20 minutes, without any unpleasant odors or smoke. This is due to the high carbon content (up to 95%), which is only achieved when the manufacturer allows the charcoal to mature properly.

How can you recognize good charcoal? You should still be able to see that the charcoal was once a piece of wood (structure, shape). Unlike tropical wood, the growth rings are still visible. At the break points, it shines like gold, indicating a very high carbon content. Hardwood charcoal pieces produce very little dust and only minimal residue.

The charcoal from the Köhlerei Eisenhammer, one of the last traditional charcoal producers in Germany, is significantly different from industrially produced products. The charcoal, made from 100% pure beech, consists solely of sustainably harvested beech wood from the Dübener Heide in East Germany. The charcoal has been specially sorted into very large pieces according to our needs, with sizes ranging from 6-18 cm. You will only need about half the amount you are used to. So, it's better to start with less, as adding more is quick and the embers will heat up again quickly. This way, you can enjoy relaxed grilling evenings, and if it takes a bit longer, you won’t have to put in much effort with our charcoal.
