Salewa Alpine-Tec

A lightweight hybrid ice axe designed for use in mountaineering, including on more technical routes.

The Salewa Alpine-Tec is a lightweight hybrid ice axe that is ideal for snowy gorges and steep slopes. It is slightly more curved and shorter than our Alpine-X ice axe and features a sharp, aggressive 3 mm thick steel blade. The minimalist hand grip can be adjusted without tools. The ergonomically shaped axe head fits well in the hand and is particularly comfortable during ascents and descents when the axe serves as support.

Its strong, aggressive steel blade is perfect for use on steep alpine ice slopes or glacier walls. A sharpened, replaceable carbide pick point at the end of the shaft ensures good grip when crossing old snow or ice.

This version has a sharpened shovel, which allows for very efficient step and ledge cutting into the ice.
