Salewa Alpine-Tec

A lightweight hybrid ice axe designed for mountaineering, including on more technical routes.

The Salewa Alpine-Tec is a lightweight hybrid ice axe intended for use in steep terrain, particularly on technical routes. It is ideal for snowy gorges and steep slopes.

It is slightly more curved and shorter than our Alpine-X ice axe and features a sharp, aggressive 3 mm thick steel blade. The minimalist hand grip can be adjusted without tools. The ergonomically shaped pick head fits comfortably in the hand and is especially convenient during ascents and descents when the axe serves as a support.

Its strong, aggressive steel blade is perfect for use on alpine steep ice slopes or glacier walls. A sharpened, replaceable pick tip made of carbide at the end of the shaft ensures good grip when crossing old snow or ice.

This version features a sharpened shovel, allowing for efficient step cutting and ledge creation in the ice.
