The Neox is the logical continuation of the Grigri, which is often referred to as the "mother of all semi-automatic belay devices." The Neox, a belay device with blocking support, features an integrated pulley that ensures a smooth rope flow and quick rope payout, especially during lead climbing. This integrated pulley eliminates the need for the gas station method when belaying. In the event of a fall or when the climber needs to take a break while checking the route, the rope tightens, causing the wheel to lock. The cam rotates, resulting in the rope being clamped and blocked. It may sound technical, but it works very well in practice – we were impressed with the simple handling during our practical test on the wall. To release the clamp position after a fall or break, the lowering lever is operated, allowing either to continue climbing or to lower the partner. The progressive regulation of the rope flow with the lever enables a smooth and comfortable lowering of the climbing partner. The Petzl belay device consists of two side parts that slide apart for rope insertion. Instructions on how to insert the rope are illustrated on both the inside and outside of the Neox.
