Horgenglarus Miro

Miro, a compact wooden chair with a minimalist design, is a redesign by the internationally renowned designer Hannes Wettstein (1958-2008). Wettstein, who sought the essence of things in his works, created a highly coherent design characterized by sovereign, discreet elegance, thanks to his sensitivity to forms, dimensions, and proportions. The stackable chair 687 S, originally designed in 1950 and awarded the "Die gute Form" prize in 1958, has been gently reinterpreted by Hannes Wettstein: the profile on the inner sides of the front legs has been rounded, and the seat has been tapered towards the back. With a modified angle of the rear legs and the contouring of the seat, the chair has become more ergonomic. With its understated character, Miro can be used in many private spaces as well as in public areas such as restaurants. Its distinctly unpretentious form has already proven itself as a stackable chair, notably as model variant 6/100 in the large beer restaurant at the Swiss Expo 64 in Lausanne. Miro marks a new beginning for Horgenglarus. It is one of the most successful chairs and served as the starting point for an extensive family of chairs that Hannes Wettstein created until 2007. The agile Montreux model, with its high back, is the elegant variant of Miro for exclusive restaurants, shops, or guild houses. Thanks to the classic webbed upholstery of the seat, the nimble chair is very comfortable.
