At the heart of the development of the digital audio 40 cable was the aim to achieve minimal jitter. Deviations in the timing of the digital signal directly affect sound quality. Therefore, QED equipped the Reference Digital XLR 40 with a zinc-manganese-ferrite shield that is not connected to the ground conductor, which also effectively absorbs high-frequency interference outside the audible range. Additionally, QED's unique three-conductor technology is utilized, providing an extra conductor twisted together with the signal-carrying wires for ground return.
