3 swimwear brands you should check out
«Summertime and the livin’ is easy,» Ella Fitzgerald once claimed. She must have owned a well-fitting swimsuit. Still looking for one yourself? These brands could be your ticket to a summer of la dolce vita.
When swimming season rolls around, I’m all about the upsides: more colour in my complexion, topped up vitamin D stores, candy-coloured towels, juicy fruit platters, iced coffees and newly cracked-open books. As I flick through the pages of said books, I’m happily oblivious to summer’s nuisances: bikini straps digging in, bottoms permanently hanging askew and swimwear that goes all saggy on you and takes ages to dry.
A day – or an entire holiday – by the water can easily take a stressful turn. The key to a relaxing experience is a pretty, well-fitting bikini or one-piece swimsuit. Still on the hunt for one? Then I recommend checking out these three brands.
Oy
Oy is a Swiss brand dedicated to developing sustainable, high-quality surf clothing – sounds great, right? And it gets even better. The brand was born in 2012 out of a specific need: to create surf and activewear that stays in place, is comfortable and holds its shape even after years of use. The clothing is designed in Switzerland and produced in Portugal using recycled fabrics sourced in Europe.
Olaian
Just like Oy, Olaian has its roots in surfing, meaning the focus is firmly on functionality and quality. The swimsuits and bikinis from this Decathlon-owned brand impress with wide straps, supportive seams and bottoms that offer a safe amount of coverage. You’ll find everything from long-sleeved models to tankini tops and tropical prints to plain pieces. According to the product description, all of them are supposed to offer «perfect support» in the waves – and they’re tested for exactly that at the production facility in Hendaye, France.
Anne Weyburn
Anne Weyburn is an in-house brand from French online shop La Redoute. It represents the much-copied – but rarely matched – French chic: elegant, classic fashion that’s both feminine and timeless. What does this mean for swimwear? Flattering cuts with details like knots or ruching, lined polyester, muted colours and understated prints. Très chic.
Always in the mood for good hits, great trips and clinking drinks.
Practical solutions for everyday problems with technology, household hacks and much more.
