These are the living trends for 2024 - says Pinterest
According to Pinterest, five home trends are leading the way in the coming year. The good news is that even if you're not an Arabica aficionado, goth cowboy or coconut fan, you can integrate the more specialised trends into your own style.
In addition to furniture fairs and home magazines, the most frequent searches on the Pinterest platform also tell me which interior trends are currently popular or emerging. Every year, 482 million users search for inspiration there. And it looks set to be particularly diverse in 2024. This is shown by these five predicted trends.
1. cafécore: a beautiful coffee bar for the home
Pinterest enthusiasts see the core of cosiness in a coffee station. They were looking for ways and ideas to bring the café aesthetic into their homes. Among the most popular: shelves, chalkboard signs, sugar bowls and murals.

If you like the hype, here's what you can look out for when styling your coffee bar:
2. metallic shades: more pizzazz with cool materials
Metals have always been an integral part of many interiors. Until a year ago, however, it was the warm colours of brushed brass, copper, gold and bronze that dominated. Now the time has come for cool metals: Stainless steel, chrome and aluminium are set to freshen up interiors with their cool hues. This is indicated by the increased search queries for aluminium furniture and door designs. My tip for implementing the trend: start small. You can set accents with just a few home accessories in metallic colours.

3rd Wild Wild Goth: opposites attract
Yesterday old-fashioned, today hip: the country interior style that you may recognise from western films is more in demand than ever. But in combination with gothic elements. Yes, you read that right, Pinterest fans searched for "Vintage Americana", "Country" and "Western Gothic". The trend report does not explain how this quirky combination comes about. But it does explain how it looks: it consists of home accessories with animal prints and natural materials such as rattan or sisal, which have been dyed black. Fake animal antlers, western bed linen and mirrors are also part of the furnishing style.

4. kitchen kitsch: the more colourful, the better
Clutter Core and Weirdcore were the harbingers of kitchen kitsch trend, which is set to take off next year. Gen X and boomers are increasingly looking for second-hand pieces and vintage appliances for the kitchen, as well as lots of colour to give their cooking area a new look. Green or pink wall paint was also very popular.

In Barbie's house, kitchen Kisch fans can find even more ideas for eccentric kitchens:
5th tropical dreams: coconuts, shells and palm leaves
Where some want to catapult themselves into the "Wild Wild Gothic West" in 2024, others long for tropical climes: On Pinterest, users searched for recipes with exotic fruits as well as fashion and living trends with a southern aesthetic. The terms ranged from elegant tropical furnishings to coconut aesthetics. You can achieve the latter in no time at all by bringing some palm patterns into play. On the wall, on decorative cushions or the shower curtain.
