The thinner, the better: condom preferences in Switzerland

Swiss customers are increasingly trying on extra-thin condoms for sex. Meanwhile, flavours and ribbing are losing relevance. Galaxus’ sales figures also reveal how big and wide the typical Swiss penis is.

To paraphrase comedian and actor Robin Williams, condoms are like sneakers for your penis – safe, but you can’t really feel the ground. Nowadays, there’s a simple remedy for people who feel this way. Today’s magic phrases are «super soft» or «extra thin». Among Galaxus customers in Switzerland, the share of sales taken up by special thin condoms (28%) has doubled in the last five years.

Four out of ten condoms are still the classic variety. Apart from reaching the most intense experience possible, there’s little demand for bells and whistles when it comes to condoms in 2025. For example, only the contents of every 12th pack purchased on Galaxus are studded or ribbed.

It’s fine for rubber to smell of rubber

Condoms without added flavourings have always been the most popular in Swiss lovemaking. In recent years, however, even fewer condoms scented with strawberry and vanilla have found their way onto penises in Switzerland. 86 per cent of all johnnies purchased from Galaxus are flavourless.

If you’re looking for added flavour, then strawberry is the way to go. Every tenth condom pack shipped by Galaxus tastes like the sweet fruit. Mint is experiencing the biggest drop off – from five per cent in 2022 to just over one per cent this year.

How big is the average penis in Switzerland?

The right condom size is essential for reliable protection during sexual intercourse. If you have a penis, you have to know the approximate length and girth of your member. Yes, the latest scientific figures are already ten years old. Regardless, they reveal that Swiss participants boasted an average length of 13.1 cm when erect and a girth of 11.7 cm.

Assuming that the majority of Galaxus customers buy condoms to match, the average member’s tonnage can be estimated based on sizes selected. It seems little has changed in terms of length over the last ten years. Two out of three Swiss customers have a penis length between 12.1 and 14 centimetres.

On the other hand, local love sticks have become thicker since ten years ago. Every second customer boasts a circumference between 11.6 and 12.5 centimetres.

But whether above, below or exactly on the Swiss average: we all know it’s not about the size of the ship, but the motion in the ocean.

Do you buy condoms incognito online, at self-checkout or the old-fashioned way at the till? We’re looking forward to reading your comments.
