Galaxus sex report: Aargau vibrates, Zurich favours the back door

Zurich likes anal, Central Switzerland is into bondage and Aargau adores anything that vibrates. The sales figures for Galaxus's Love + Play range in 2025 reveal the various ways Switzerland's population likes to get their rocks off.

Trigger warning: if you’re not into sex toys and erotic products or these topics just aren’t your thing, best to look away now.

Are Zurich’s bedrooms the freakiest? Or are Zurich residents particularly dependent on a little help to get a happy ending? While Galaxus sales figures can’t provide answers to this question, users based in Zurich still shopped in the online retailer’s Love + Play range the most last year in relation to the population. They’re followed by Zug, Obwalden and Aargau.

Some more details:

  • Zurich is all about anal: in 2025, the canton of Zurich ordered the most anal douches and the second most anal toys (after Obwalden). This could explain why the people of Zurich also order the most lubricant.
  • Back doors remain closed in Uri: anal douches and toys were the least likely to leave the Galaxus warehouse for the canton of Uri in 2025.
  • Aargau’s verifiably vibrating, as are French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino: Aargau residents bought the most vibrators at Galaxus in 2025. Vaud, Ticino, Zug and Valais are also very fond of stimulation through vibration.
  • Fans of bondage games pepper Central Switzerland: the top five cantons for BDSM accessories in 2025 were Appenzell Innerhoden, Zug, Zurich, Obwalden and Glarus.
  • In Zug and Nidwalden, rings don’t just adorn fingers: these two cantons bought the highest proportion of penis rings.

But without a doubt, the most popular sex toy in Switzerland remains the vibrator. However, BDSM products are the rising stars for the year. After falling out of the top five in 2024, bondage items made it back to third place on the bestseller list in 2025.

Men at the forefront

Moving past cantons, there’s also a clear indication that men buy more erotic products than women the country over. At Galaxus, seven out of ten orders in this category came from male customers in 2025. This figure has been stable for years.

  • The highest proportion of female purchases was for vibrators (54 per cent), followed by sex games (40 per cent).
  • Only three out of ten strap sets and four out of ten lingerie sets were ordered by female customers in 2025 – even though the majority of them are aimed at the female demographic. Is it simply more common in heterosexual relationships today for men to handle the lingerie? Or do women not value it as much as men? We can’t know from the Galaxus sales figures alone.
  • Men almost exclusively buy penis toys themselves. 95 per cent of masturbators, penis cages, penis plugs and penis pumps were ordered by men last year. For cock rings, the figure dropped to 90 per cent.
  • Men like bondage gear, whips and mouth gags. Eight out of ten orders related to Galaxus’s BDSM range came from men in 2025.

The age of Galaxus’s sex toy buyers has changed little over the years.

Only one in ten Love + Play orders in 2025 came from users under the age of 25. 25- to 34-year-olds and 35- to 44-year-olds each made up one third of the sex toy and marital aid pie.

Which toy jump-started your sex life or masturbation the most? And what would you rather give a miss? We look forward to your insider tips in the comments.
