No such thing as a stylish rain jacket? Rains is here to prove you wrong

Summer hasn’t been good to us so far, but at least Scandi brand Rains has our backs. Having turned a traditionally ugly garment into something exciting, it’s making the rainy weather that little bit more bearable.
Instead of sunbathing, I’ve spent most of this summer «rainbathing». It’s mid-July, and instead of shopping for bikinis, tankinis or monokinis, I’ve been browsing rain jackets, coats and parkas. That’s a crying shame, but things would be even more depressing if it weren’t for the brand Rains. The Danish label gets the very best out of wet-weather clothing and proves that it doesn’t necessarily have to be unstylish.

Rainwear meets streetwear and high fashion
It all started over a decade ago. Back then, founders Philip Lotko and Daniel Brix were studying at Teko, a design and business school in Copenhagen. The two friends took it upon themselves to put the traditional rain poncho into a modern context, making it both fashionable and functional. This idea – as well as some support from Kenneth Davis – is what gave rise to Rains in 2012. A label for waterproof outerwear with a strict, clear aesthetic: minimalist, urban and modern.
Rains now offers a wide range of rainwear and accessories, including bags, hats and belts. The label’s also been a regular at Paris Fashion Week since 2022. These fashion shows are styled by none other than Pernille Teisbaek, one of Denmark’s best-known fashion personalities – and Lotko’s wife.
Rains looks good on grandparents and grandkids alike
This all sounds super exclusive, but it isn’t. Rains is the kind of brand that’d meet the needs of both a practical grandpa and his fashion-conscious granddaughter. Although Rains’ stylised appearance makes the brand stand out from the humdrum rainwear crowd, this would mean nothing if it wasn’t firmly rooted in quality, functionality and sustainability.

Rains’ jackets and coats offer protection from both rain and wind, and are lightweight and breathable. Most of them have eyelets under the arms and a back yoke with concealed ventilation openings. Ideal for a rainy summer.
