My new favourite face sunscreens

It’s been over a year since I shared my favourite sunscreens with you. Since then, I’ve been busy testing some new ones. These three have left a lasting impression on me.

Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics by Beauty of Joseon

This product’s hugely popular on the K-Beauty scene, and mine has almost run out. Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics sunscreen with SPF 50+, made by Korean skincare brand Beauty of Joeson, hasn’t just won me over with its minimalist look. The formula’s a hit, too. The light yet nourishing lotion has a subtle aroma (it’s fragrance-free) and contains 30 per cent rice extract, which is supposed to moisturise the skin. Once you’ve applied it and let it dry, you’re left with a non-sticky, glowy finish. Plus, the filter contained in the sunscreen supposedly blocks blue light. That being said, the manufacturer has advised that the cream’s blue light protection hasn’t been clinically tested.

Well suited to dry and normal skin types (my own impression).

Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen by Round Lab

«This is the best sunscreen I’ve ever used,» is all my friend (and go-to beauty guru) had to say to me. Shortly after, Birch Juice Moisturizing Cream was in my shopping cart. Made by Korean brand Round Lab, the cream has SPF 50+ and blue light protection. See? I had no choice! It’s also a firm favourite in the videos of Korean skincare influencers. And now, it’s scored a place in my heart too. The reef-friendly formula is virtually odourless, except for its subtle hint of camomile. It’s also light, blending effortlessly into the skin without leaving residue behind. It absorbs quickly, leaving a matt but natural finish. The cream contains hyaluronic acid and birch sap for hydration, and niacinamide for an even complexion.

According to the manufacturer, it’s also well suited to those with sensitive skin.

The birch sap contained in it is supposed to reduce inflammation and soothe the skin.

Anthelios UV Mune 400 Oil Control Fluid by La Roche-Posay

Do you tend to have very oily skin? Want to keep your T-zone matt? When sunscreens come into play, this is rarely an easy feat. La Roche-Posay’s most popular sun cream Anthelios UV Mune 400 with SPF 50+ is now also available for those with oily skin. The Oil Control Fluid protects against ultra-long-wave UVA rays and deftly keeps shiny skin at bay. Give it a good shake before putting it on. Thanks to the pointed applicator, the thin cream is easy to apply. The manufacturer says the formula’s waterproof, sweat-resistant and fragrance-free. That said, the product definitely seems perfumed to my nose. Maybe it’s just a nice natural aroma. I like it. Not least because of the slim, flat bottle, which makes it easy to stash away anywhere.

According to the manufacturer, it’s well suited to sensitive and oily skin.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
