It's off on holiday - more space thanks to transport solutions!

Winter sports holidays are just around the corner and you're once again wondering how to fit everything into the boot of your car? We've got the solution: make optimum use of the space around your car, with a roof box or ski rack.

Ski carriers

Ski racks have been specially designed to carry sports equipment, such as skis or snowboards. If you use one, make sure you comply with the maximum authorised load. The authorised value can be found on the vehicle's registration document.

Roof boxes

A roof box is ideal when you don't have enough space in the car or want to transport bulky items. Sports equipment and other luggage can be stored on the roof.

Securing items in the boot (e.g. with straps) is essential for safe driving. Heavy items should be placed in the middle and lower part of the roof box. At the front, it is advisable to put soft items (if possible).

If you're short of space in the garage, there's also a foldable version. When it's not in use, it can be folded away, so it doesn't take up much space. Roof boxes are less robust, however, and need to be assembled/disassembled before and after use - an operation that is still quick, however.

An alternative storage option for the roof box is a bracket that can be mounted on the garage ceiling. The rack can carry loads of up to 100kg.

Load carriers

Roof boxes and ski racks cannot usually be fitted directly to the vehicle. We have a wide range of load carriers. These support the weight of a roof box or ski carrier on the roof of a vehicle. When choosing a load carrier, you need to take into account the model of vehicle you want to fit it to. Not all load carriers are compatible with each other. A load carrier is made up of several components: you need crossbars, roof bar feet and/or a vehicle-specific mounting kit.
