Is this really the Perfect Eyelash Curler?

To curl your eyelashes to perfection, you probably use a curler or you treat yourself to a lash lift at the beautician. Or, if you’re like me, you spend money on the heated «Perfect Eyelash Curler» by Trisa and hope for the best.
There are plenty of things I’d rather do than shape my eyelashes with a curler. And yet, that’s what I do every morning. Have there been tears at times? Of course. Sometimes because my eyelid gets caught in the curler; sometimes because I place the curler too close to the lash line and almost tear out all my eyelashes at once. That’s life with make-up: full of risks! After taking this risk, the effect created with a classic eyelash curler only lasts for a short while. Even if I cover my lashes in mascara straight away. Sure, there are tips and tricks to make lashes stay in shape longer: warming the curler with a hairdryer or spraying it with hairspray. This might work, but it involves time and effort. Time and effort that I don’t have to spare early in the morning.
With Trisa's «Perfect Eyelash Curler», such ugly scenes are supposed to be a thing of the past. It’s kind of an improved eyelash curler that calls itself a heated comb and promises long-lasting results.

Please do what you promise to
Considering the product looks quite self-explanatory, I'm surprised at how many problems I have with it. First of all, I don't manage to open the battery compartment. The manual has a few illustrations, loads of red arrows and almost no descriptive text. The battery compartment simply won't open and the instructions are unclear. I pass the curler and manual around in the office. Even my boyfriend has a try. Nobody manages to solve the problem. So I assume my curler is defective and order another one. New hope, but same story: I don't manage to open the battery compartment. But then, in all my frustration, I squeeze the device so hard that part of the handle comes loose and releases the battery compartment (AAA). By the way, the battery is not included.

I switch the curler on and wait for it to heat up. If my interpretation of the cryptic visual language in the manual is correct, I'm waiting for the light on the curler (I'm guessing it's a light) to indicate when the device is ready. But nothing happens. After ten minutes, I just go for it: I put the curler to my eyelashes and comb them up with light pressure for eight to ten seconds, as it says.
I repeat this several times because I hardly see any difference to my untreated eyelashes. I don't burn myself because I'm very careful. From time to time, I hold the comb to my eyelashes longer than indicated and put a bit more pressure on my lashes to create the lifting effect. I'm done after about six minutes. A little mascara over it, then it's time to compare my left and my right eye. The difference is minimal. Not impressive compared to what my regular curler achieves. But maybe the effect lasts longer? Nope. After one hour, both eyelashes look the exact same.

Verdict
You really don't need this tool. In my opinion, it falls into the category of «electronic scrap that the world can go without». Neither the design nor the result was satisfying. It takes longer than with a regular eyelash curler and the result is mediocre. Since my first attempt, I’ve tried this tool four more times. The fourth and last time ended with the battery and my hope dying.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
