Your favourite powder is gone and so is your mood? With a few things you probably already have at home, you can get both back in shape.
One mistake and your new eyeshadow makes friends with the floor. Or after unpacking your online order, you realise that it has been transported to you with the delicacy of a rubbish collector. Regardless of how the mishap occurred, the eyeshadow or powder is no fun to break. What remains is frustration and a huge mess.
However, with a little trick, you can fix the mess in no time at all.
All you need is:
- household paper
- A strip of baking paper
- A toothpick or a wood skewer
- At least 70% alcohol (I use 80% here)
- A smooth, round surface that fits into the eyeshadow pan in terms of size and that you can use as a press
And this is how it works:
Step 1: Place the crumbled eyeshadow from the palette on a small piece of baking paper and crush the larger chunks underneath with a wooden skewer. In the end, the eyeshadow should be completely pulverised in front of you.
Step 2: Use the baking paper as a kind of funnel and carefully pour the powdered eyeshadow back into the empty pan.
Step 3: Now the alcohol comes into play. Add a few drops to the eyeshadow. Just enough so that the powder starts to combine. Mix everything with the wooden skewer.
Step 4: Take a strip of kitchen paper and place it smooth side first over the pan with the eyeshadow-alcohol mixture. Use a smooth piece of paper - I use the round surface of a foundation lid - to press the mixture evenly into the pan. Repeat this process with new strips of kitchen paper until there are no more alcohol stains and the surface is nice and smooth.
Voilà. Eyeshadow saved, mood too. And the wallet is certainly quite happy too.
