Eyeshadow mockery

Do you only like one colour from your large eyeshadow palette? With a little manual dexterity, you can remove it and save a lot of space on your dressing table.

When sorting out and reorganising my make-up, I always come across eyeshadow palettes that I would love to give away if it weren't for that one colour that I'm so attached to. In such cases, I "deposit" my eyeshadows. This means I remove the pans of my choice from the palette case and put them in a magnetic palette.

If you want to do the same as me, you will need:

And this is how it works:

Step 1:

Cardboard pallets are easier to handle as you can simply peel the layers away from each other. In my example, I first peel off the inside, i.e. the perforated grid, piece by piece. What remains are the individual eyeshadow pans, which are attached to the lid box. I can even remove one of the pans by hand without having to heat the glue. The others, however, I have to heat up a bit.

Step 2:

Step 3:

Check whether the metal container of your eyeshadow is not already magnetic, as in my case, before you attach a small magnetic disc or a piece of magnetic tape to it with superglue. This is often the case and saves you work. You can also use small, narrow photo magnets. Just make sure that the magnets are not too thick so that the magnetic pallet can be closed.

Step 4:

Label the eyeshadow with the brand, colour name and palette name. If you ever use it up, you can check whether the brand now sells the colour as a single product. This rarely happens, but you never know.

I have now reduced five palettes to this one magnetic palette using this procedure, which has saved me space. You can also apply the principle of depotting to face palettes or individually packaged eyeshadows. Just be careful with cream products, as they could melt away when heated. And now have fun clearing out and reorganising. 😚

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
