From Zürich Openair to Montreux Jazz – how to rock up at a festival this summer
Festival = denim shorts, right? Nah, you can go ahead and be more creative with your outfit.
Finally, the music festival season is here. This means it’s peak season for wellies, earplugs and rain ponchos. If you’ve got these essentials, but are still lacking inspiration for the rest of your outfit, here come the other headliners.
Montreux Jazz Festival
Against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Geneva, the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival kicked off on 4 July and will be running until 19 July. Musical icons including Elton John and Janet Jackson have performed at the event. The 2025 line-up is not be sniffed at either: Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, Grace Jones, FKA Twigs and Benson Boone are just some of the acts that are bound to knock your socks off.

Gurtenfestival
Bern city’s very own mountain is both a popular excursion destination and also the spectacular venue for the eclectic Gurtenfestival that takes place from 16 to 19 July. If you need to cool down your hot dancing feet during the day, a swim in the (rapid!) rapids of the ice-cold river Aare will do the trick. Later in the day, it’s time to head up the mountain again on foot or with the Gurtenbahn funicular that will drop you off right in front of one of the four stages. So who’s playing? Lola Young, Nina Chuba, Will Smith, Cro, Max Herre & Joy Denalane and many more ...

Zürich Openair
Whether you’ll be chanting Hyper Hyper when Scooter comes on, borderline rioting to Deichkind’s set or swooning during Shawn Mendes’ show, the Zürich Openair line-up really does have something for everyone. You should definitely note down two weekends in your calendar: 22 and 23 August and 29 and 30 August.
